Lucerne mail order company accepts Bitcoin
Customers purchasing from Lehner Versand’s online shop can already pay with Bitcoin and the mail order company’s seven sales outlets will soon accept the digital currency, announced a statement.
Lehner Versand is also set to accept other digital currencies, such as Ether, Dash, Litecoin and Ripple.
“Since 2010, I have been fascinated by the technology and institutional independence of cryptocurrencies,” commented Thomas Meier, CEO and co-owner of Lehner Versand.
He added that digital currencies have gained significance both internationally and in Switzerland, presenting the opportunity to secure more customers.
“We wanted to be the first mail order company to get involved and to learn how to trade with cryptocurrencies,” added Meier, who also wants to “blaze a trail and promote the legitimacy of cryptocurrencies as a legitimate payment method.”
Lehner Versand worked with the Zug-based IT consultancy firm inacta to implement the service.
“We support many organizations in the digital world and find again and again that courage is sometimes all that is needed to take the first step – just like Lehner Versand,” explained Anders Bröchner, senior consultant at inacta.
